Hopefully JUMP can modify these bikes so they can no longer easily be disabled and hijacked by trouble making teens.

18 and older only on these bikes as they are motorized. At least the younger thieves would be caught.

The JUMP bikes weren't motorized (or trackable) when the kids broke the locks.

And, in most instances, they were able to get away from the police.

Apparently that's what they're doing. JUMP bikes will return to Providence in the Spring.

"Mayor Jorge Elorza said during a recent news conference to announce the release of the city’s Great Streets master plan that the company was working to retool the safety device that keeps the bikes locked. Over the summer, many riders, particularly teens, were seen riding throughout the city on JUMP bikes that had been broken into"

I have a feeling it won't take long (less than a week?) for the teens to figure out how to disable the locks.
