Pawtucket wasn't all that bad a place to grow up in back in the 80s, but when I went back to visit recenty it was sort of depressing. I thought that maybe some of the renewal that Providence has experienced would carry over into Pawtucket, but it didn't seem that way. At least the Red Sox are still there, but what happened to the Newport Creamery? Do you think Pawtucket will improve in the coming years?

Improve? Newport Creamery went under , but was quickly bought by the Janis Comp and is now reforming. Many of the old mills around the former creamery have been converted to artest lofts and condo's. Other former mill complexes have plans in addition to the railroad station being rehab for new service. Downtown at least has a great chineese restaurant. I do miss the dinner theater. Renewal in the downtown area will be slow. Apex has reduced itself and the likelihood of a Peerless or Outlet type store are remote. Retail downtown is not likely.
