I've never seen the ATV crew in there or heard complaints about it but if they are you put up a gate on the roadway, they will only tear up the grass instead. All terrain for them be ones ruined terrain for us
You mean like THIS?
Police investigating possible ATV, dirt bike damage at Roger Williams Park Temple of Music
But how could that be??? I mean why couldn't these thugs just have used the wide open gates and stayed on the pavement! Surely they have respect for park rules and public property, and wouldn't destroy the grass if a road was available!!! Sorry but that is the most absurd idea I have heard.
IT NEEDS TO BE FENCED AND GATED AT THE PERIMETER, SO THESE MISCREANTS CANNOT MAKE ENTRY TO THE PARK AFTER HOURS PERIOD.
Once again, you are wrong. Roger Williams Park is not open to the "public" between 9pm and 7am.
There are events that run later than 9:00 frequently. There was a movie in the park at 7:30 every Friday in August. They don't make people leave half an hour before the movie is over.

You're right. Lots of post 9pm things going on. Heck, the zoo has whole events exhibits open later. People that live here know that. Voyeurs that don't know the area would not.
It's one thing if there's an event that runs beyond 9pm, but otherwise you absolutely will get kicked out if you're hanging out in the park after closing.
In other words, there is already security and the Maine fantasy gates are unnecessary.
And they sure did a heck of a job preventing the ATV vandals shown in the above post^. Buddy, that park would need to hire a LOT more security in order to properly cover that park at night. I imagine gates and fencing would be a lot cheaper in the long run.
