One of my minor regrets in life was not buying this lighthouse when it was last for sale years ago. Came so close. I just couldn't get over the house sitting directly behind it. It had the entire front end of an old Mercedes, built in & hanging over the garage. That has since been removed & whoever the lucky buyer is, is now getting a bargain. A very special Rhode Island Place.

Some people do have some funny decor ideas! We very briefly considered it but my concerns were elevation (or lack thereof) and overall size- we'd have to add on. However, I imagine it went to some out of state person looking for a vacation home.

The lighthouse did take on some storm damage a few years ago. The then owners were awarded a preservation grant to make repairs. The grant came with 3 requirements. 2 were there could be no additions/exterior changes and a public view easement (no landscaping to block public view of the property) for a pre-determined time period. The other was they allow limited preservation tours. These deed requirements will pass to the new buyers for the balance of the years. I think the former owners were full time residents.
Interesting. There are a lot of people who are into lighthouses and the preservation of them, so guess all that makes sense.
