I didn't realize it was an earthquake immediately; I thought a big truck rumbling by or construction - but it went on too long and it felt entirely different.
It's weird who felt it and who didn't. From my office, two in EP felt it, one in Cumberland, one in Warwick and one in Narragansett felt it - but another from Narragansett and one in Lincoln and North Providence did not.
The initial “hit” felt like when a big gust of wind broadsides the house during a very windy storm. We thought it was just a rogue gust until the gentle shaking continued for 10-15 seconds. I’ve felt a few minor earthquakes before and that part of it made it clear what was happening.
It’s really weird who didn’t feel it and who did. I can’t imagine anyone not feeling that first shock, but apparently a lot of people didn’t. I was on the second floor too, and I’m wondering if that makes much of a difference?

I had a similar experience as you.
When the Dartmouth quake hit in 2020, neither Hollytree nor redplum33 felt that quake either. I doubt Trinity Rep is going to be calling for either of them to try out for a roll in “The Princess and the Pea” any time soon.

That's a good description. At first, I didn't think much of it but it persisted too long and felt slightly different than anything I've felt before. Usually I'm the one who doesn't feel a thing. I do suspect I felt it more because I was on the second floor. And I think because I was sitting at a desk I felt it more; the desk wall on either side of my knee was shaking!
