I was wondering, is the area of Pawtucket around Shea High a good or rough area? I noticed that it is the most diverse high school in the state and supposedly, it is a school that is performing at a relatively high level. I was surprised that it has the highest percentage of African American/Black students in the state in regards to high schools. I would have thought a high school in Providence like Hope High would have a higher percentage. Maybe it is due to the high Cape Verdian community there as well.
Your info is faulty. Shea HS is one of the lowest performing schools......
I was wondering about that due to the fact that it has quite a few students that live under the poverty rate too. Do kids from North Providence go to Shea too? I ask because I noticed that North Providence has a higher Black percentage than Pawtucket, but touches that part of Pawtucket as well. North Providence High is only about 5% Black, but the city is about 13% Black. So, that seems odd to me.
Also, this is the information I used that made me think it was performing at a RELATIVELY high level:http://www.psdri.net/WEBS/shea_high_school/ProjoArticleByHaroldWolfson11_27_08.htm (broken link)
