Hello all,

I am just about to retire and move to Fort Lee as an Army Instructor, what would be a good cheap furnished apartment area. This would be temporary until I can bring my wife an daughter out. My daughter will be graduating this year so I am letting them stay in Colorado Until she graduates.

So I am just looking for cheap but not an area that will keep me up all night due to police activity. If you understand what I mean.

I will be moving there very soon I start Jan. 4 2011

Any help would be greatfull. Thanks.

Hmm, you must be coming from Carson? Lots of folks have been heading this way (from there) lately! I would check with the HSO. They may be keeping a list of folks that are looking for rooms to share.

The other thing you might want to do is take a peak on Craig's List. I had a Soldier contact me coming from Redstone and he is doing the same thing. There were a couple of things on Craig's List a while back, so check there.

Good luck with the PCS and an early welcome to Fort Lee!

Thats what I been looking at craigslist, just wanted to get a little intel before heading that way. It is not a PCS tho, I am retiring Dec 12th

Taking a contracters position Until the GS position opens up. So I will be there by myself until the daughter graduates. This year.

So looking for something cheap but not in a horrible area. Dont mind the area being semi bad (hence the cheap)

I am trying to save money over the next 5 months so I can buy a home out there somewhere. Just gotta figure out the area etc.

Congrats on the retirement! It is a hard decision, I know, but one I don't think my husband regrets. His last ten years he was in Garrison and that's just hard. I think if he had been with the Soldiers, he would have stayed.

And my husband did the same thing you are. He went with a contractor for about a year until he could get into the GS system. Now that he's with DeCA, I think we are good to go!

I will keep my ears open on the rental and let you know if I hear anything.

Look in Prince George County to the East of the base. The West has to many spotty areas.
