I've lived in VA for 2 years now, the one thing I constantly see is people getting into accidents, usually stupid small ones where the cars are completely drivable and instead of getting the hell and out of the way and swapping paperwork they leave there cars blocking traffic like morons and make traffic hell for everybody. Does VA have some law or something that says you must do this? Or are people just idiots? Also must you call the police if no injuries?

If it is an injury accident, you have to keep your car where it is until police arrive, if there is no injuries and minor damages, then you are supposed to move your cars out the way, if it is truly messing up traffic, call the cops, report the accident, and LET THEM KNOW its blocking traffic, They will come out and get to them to GTFO!

Its not stupidity, its the increase in hit and runs. Most people now get out and get the plate number before even surveying the damage. They stay in place primarily due to make sure the causer of the accident doesnt leave. I personally carry a camera in all the cars my family drives.

I was rear ended in Chesterfield a few months back, and the guy ran before I even had a chance to place my car in park. Lucky for me the car behind him saw it and wrote down the plate, description of the vehicle and partial description of the driver. I called the police and they told me to either pull to the side or when I had a chance come to police headquarters and they'll do up a report. They caught up the guy a week later in Sussex (I would've thought it was a kid, but I was shocked it was a retiree in his 60's). The stupidity on his part was that he had full insurance and left the scene. The police told me he was issued a few tickets for this incident.

I've only been here 1.5 yrs. but I can't believe how many accidents I'm seeing. I've had three friends get really hurt and one guy behind one friend is still in the hospital (since Dec.)

I don't get it. Why are the accidents so high here?
