I have the same question. I'm moving to Richmond for a six-month consulting assignment in the West End and need a moderately priced, yet halfway decent, hotel until I can rent a room somewhere. Can someone provide me any suggestions?

Thank you.

Default Re: Hotel info

Thanks, sls76. Is there anything less expensive that's not a dump? I know the two chains you gave me aren't anywhere near the top of the line in their market segments, but after taxes and fees, I'll be looking at around $90 a night, give or take a few dollars. That's pretty steep for someone who just landed his first consulting assignment in 14 months and is living on fumes.

I think I saw something advertised on Craigslist that was $64 per night. Do you or anyone else know what I'm talking about?

FWIW, I've been speaking with folks about renting rooms, but they're not going to be available when I'm coming into town. Also, people want to meet the person to whom they'll be renting before they say "yes"; it's unrealistic for me to think someone will rent to me sight unseen, via e-mail or a phone call, so I need to plan on getting a hotel room first.

Thanks again for your help.

SilversSage - go to www.hotels.com and run a search on "Glen Allen, VA" and when the results show up change the pointers to the left to your desired price range and guest rating. I think I saw a few hotels in the $50+ range, not the best but not bad either. These are regular hotels though mostly not the extended stay ones but seems to fit your budget!

The Marriott is $59 + tax for 12+ night stays with AAA. Not sure how long you will need it for. Honestly anything much cheaper than that would frighten me.

Have you asked for a Capital One discount? That might work. Not sure if you need to be a permanent employee to use those.

The ValuePlace at 6900 West Broad advertises $249 per week (I assume) on Craigslist. However, it doesn't seem to exist on the map or the ValuePlace website.
