Inputs greatly appreciated. Contacted American Lock & Key and they said their minimum charge to come out is ~$160. Used a lawn care guy who happened to stop by our house after we moved in, he is charging $35 per cut..our lot is about 0.4 acre - is that reasonable? We have never had a yard before so no clue .. thanks in advance!

You might want to look into an annual contract for lawn maintenance which will cover mowing/edging, fertilizer and weed control, leaf removal, weeding, and shaping bushes. I was paying $155/month for that in Short Pump for a lawn that was about 1/3 of an acre. But $35 doesn't seem to high

I agree that $35 does not seem too high. Are you a member of Angie's list? You may find locksmith recommendations there ...

Oh, that also included aerating and overseeding in the fall. It's a lot if you want to do some of it yourself. If not, an annual service contract is usually much cheaper than contracting everything out individually.

Locksmiths are unreasonably expensive. Typically you need them in a pinch and have little choice. Are you just changing locks? I ended up replacing all the exterior door hardware for much less than having a locksmith come out to change locks when we closed on our house a few months back. It's very easy to do, even if you're not very handy.

Yes just looking to change locks, also it would be nice to get someone to take a look at the door structure itself to see if it is adequate...still deciding ...

$35 is quite reasonable.

As for the locks....it's really easy to do yourself.......and a locksmith is not going to help you determine whether or not your doors are adequate.

If I were you, I'd ask my buyer's agent for referrals.

That's really a contractor question. And $35 is cheap to my mind - that's the kind of price you get from a retired guy, or someone who's already doing your neighbors.
