Hi everyone. Like the title says, I'm considering buying a home in Tappahannock. I have a specific home in mind. I really can't find too much information from people who live in the area, so I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight.

I'm mostly concerned about the type of residents in the area. I'm pretty liberal, but don't have much tolerance for low-class people (attitude wise, not money). By this I mean people who discriminate, those with an attitude of entitlement, or people with altogether bad attitudes. I know there are all types anywhere you live, but does the majority generally fit into any category? Also, I am a single white female, if it makes a difference.

Another concern of mine is my social life. Are there any community activities for singles with no kids? I'm not interested in church-type activities, as I am an atheist. Speaking of, will I be ostracized for not belonging to a church? Or, do a lot of people wear their religion on their sleeve? I generally don’t flaunt my lack of religion and would prefer not to live around those who feel the need to shove their religion down others’ throats. Having said that, I don't discriminate against people with religion - you mind your business and I'll mind my own.

What I like most about the area is the cost of living, proximity to the water, and the fact that everything I need on a daily basis (grocery, gas station, shopping, etc) is 5 minutes from the property I'm considering. Anything else will be a drive, but I don't mind that.

I'd also like to get a roommate to offset some of my mortgage, but is there a lot of demand for roommates in that area, or will I have a difficult time finding one.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I’m sorry if anyone felt offended by what I have written as that was not my intent.
