my driveway is a mess...it looks like it was paved at some point but only in a small section and now its filled with roots/rocks/dirt. it is a very small driveway. i want it to be about two car length's long and maybe three wide. any recommendations for contractors? i haven't decided whether i want to pave it or put gravel down...that will depend on cost.edit- here is the area that i need to fix Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting

Gravel will be much cheaper than asphalt - generally we'd use gravel as a sub base in any case.

Straight gravel delivered, #57 would be around $300 for 10 tons plus spreading fee. More as you go to more decorative gravel

I second Gravel. My driveway has asphalt, and to have it sorta repaved and sealed to make it look reeeallly black and shiny was going to cost me a hella lot.

I can imagine that the price would be doubled to have it actually paved in asphalt from scratch.
