I recently received a job offer that would require I move to Richmond, VA. I've heard some bad stories about Richmond. What is it like to live in Richmond? What are the best neighborhoods?

Thanks!

Richmond is a great place to live. Tons to do, Vibrant food scene etc. Like any city, there are areas that aren't as safe or as desirable as others.

"Best" really depends on what you are looking for. Are schools important? Are you looking to buy or rent? Budget? City/Suburb etc. There is not one right answer.

Schools are not really important. Dog friendly and active fun area is important.

Great place, and I've lived many places. But what are you looking for? The bad stories aren't true, but for better and worse it's not Manhattan.

Richmond is awesome -- just google all the accolades we've gotten recently. I would never hesitate to move here, but if you have specific concerns let us know and the posters here will help. There are several great dog parks, and lots of great walking neighborhoods. If you give us a budget range and city v. suburbs, or activities you'd like to have close at hand, we can give you more details. I've lived in the city and in the burbs and never felt at risk, nor been a victim of any crime. And the range of things to do here is only expanding. RVA is great!

This is a great example, of a generic question getting generic answers.

Hey, how's XXX?

It's awesome! It's great! I like it. It's nice.

I'm really psyched about Stone, on a number of levels. I keep a stone keg on tap in my house, (GoTo) and would love to be able to get it in sixtle form
