This may be a long shot question (no pun intended), but has anyone ever been hunting in New Kent County Virginia, due east of Richmond? Or hunting in VA in general. I was considering riding out there to a friend of mine's land to throw a few bags of corn before it gets cold, unless that is illegal here?? I have never been hunting in VA, just accustomed to SC hunting. Also, are there any other regulations or laws that I should worry about?

I know you can bait here, but can't shoot off of it. I believe there is a cut off date of when you have to stop baiting. I'm from MA and haven't started hunting here yet either, lot of stuff is different and as your aware it's kinda tricky to get into hunting in a new state. I gotta get on that stuff, going up next month for turkey day to be with the family and trying to get some time in the woods with some friends while Pheasant season is still going but really gotta get a plan together for down here.

Yeah one of my friends, a girl, says she has a ton of deer on her 40-something acres and from what I gather they are overpopulated here. I myself have seen pretty big numbers grouped together (15-20) just inside neighborhoods that barely border the busy streets. She also said that the turkey are all over too nearly hits them coming home all the time. I've never gone after turkey myself but wouldn't mind bagging one. I just read up on the baiting so I may just scrap that idea all together and go scouting.

I think, but am not sure, some baiting and crops (forget the name) are legal. If you go to one of the hunting stores, like green top, I bet they can tell you all you need to know.

And I'm sure the land is covered with Deer. All land seems to be these days. The things are a pest in Massachusetts.

Hunt clubs seem to be pretty common around here, maybe see if you can join one?
