We are considering a move to Richmond and I'm hoping to find an area where kids run around and play in the neighborhood without their parents scheduling everything for them. Does that exist out there, or am I just dreaming about a time in the past that doesn't exist anymore?

We live in Seattle proper and my kids have no room to roam, can't bike without us, and there are no groups of kids to play with out on the street.

Would you recommend an older area, or a newer subdivision? Also considering Glen Allen area.

Thank you!!

Powderham and Roxshire (Robious Rd) are older neighborhoods (80s) with tons of kids. Mine just got off the bus and disappeared into the woods with her friends...

I just moved to Midlothian from DC - to a new construction neighborhood (Rountrey). I think if you're used to a city at all, Midlothian will feel nice. There are trees, and parks, and close enough to downtown Richmond to have what that offers as well.

I would second a vote for Rountrey or Hallsley depending on your budget.

We'd like to keep to $350K and would actually prefer a bit of a fixer, but I know that in the newer neighborhoods that wouldn't be an option. What's most important is having a great environment for the kids (and us, of course).

I live in RounTrey and see kids playing outside all the time. Sometimes on the lawn at someone's house, or riding bikes together. Playing catch in a cup de sac, too. It's nice to see that.
