I've lived in Richmond for 30 years but am now in early retirement. I traveled so much in my work, I never build a very strong social network. I'm happily married for 38 years, the kids are moved out and the dog has finally died. Looking for others in similar situation for social group (not looking for a romantic hook-up) in Richmond. not too interested in church groups. Maybe good neighborhoods but not strictly retirement communities. I don't golf. Perhaps someone might have an idea outside of Richmond/Virginia

I second hee volunteering aspect. That helped me tremendously when we would move with the Army. I'm guessing the many museums and hospitals in the area could use you, and I KNOW the USO at the airport could use you. Good luck and congrats on your retirement!
