My family and I are relocating to Richmond area in January. Can anyone recommend a good leasing agent? We will purchase but would like to rent first to get to know the area.

We are looking for something suburban or even rural (we prefer a large yard) but not more than 30 minutes outside the city. Preferably on the North side since one of us will be commuting a few days a week to McLean. Also looking too be in a good school district (elementary school). Any suggestions on a more specific location/neighborhood is much appreciated.

Thanks

commuting to Mclean, ouch. Out of the city will be fine. Into Mclean will be hell on earth.

From criteria look at Ashland/Hanover. Rural, north of Richmond but you can go out to dinner in Richmond.

The problem with Ashland is the schools are so-so. The good school assignments in Hanover are in the suburban part of the county (Mechanicsville).

I agree about the commute. I commuted from Short Pump to DC three days a week about a decade ago. I drove to Fredericksburg and took VRE. I wouldn't want to drive to Mclean a few days a week. That sounds extremely miserable.

There really aren't a ton of leasing agents to work with here. Check out Craigslist and Hotpads.
