Most people on here find the quality of life terrific here in Richmond.

Rooms may not be hard to find as you have VCU here in the city and subletting a room shouldn't be hard. I had an intern that used AirBnB to find a room easy.

Unless you have some non-negotiable deal-killers (I certainly have some) it is HARD, but I'm sure possible, to do better than Richmond right now. My motto is if Getting a chance on a job is the main consideration --go where the jobs are, if not, go fror a balance that has quality of life. Richmond hits the mark with quality of life. Maybe check out a site for seeking roommates and share an apartment or rent a room in someone's house that way.
