Has anyone "moved up" from an approximately 2400 sq ft house to one over 3000 sq ft? What was the approximate increase in monthly bills when increasing size (mostly utilities)? Anything surprise you? Any regrets?

Thanks!

I had a significant increase in size moving from NY to Richmond. This is not a simple calculation because it depends on (a) rates, (b) efficiency of the house, (c) climate and (d) your habits (and possibly other variables that I'm not considering).

I can say that in my case, I essentially tripled the size of my place with the move and my utilities stayed about the same (rates in Richmond are far lower than in NY, and my house is much more efficient than my old one was).

No regrets! :-)

Thank you for so much for your feedback. I was curious about the trade off of different rates and differing efficiency as well.
