During a home inspection, it was noted the city supply line going into the house is polybutylene, also known as Quest pipes. There was a class action settlement for these pipes. Does anybody know if Wellesley homes were built with these?

The only way to tell is to go into the crawl. Polybutylene is a flexible gray piping. A number of home inspections for me have shown poly pipes in the last six months. It was actually not the piping that failed, but the fittings.

We lived in Chantilly, VA, and had problems with both the inside pipes and the feed from the county hookup. This was probably 15 or so years ago. Lawsuit for both sets of pipes but I believe the fund was running out for both. Leaks for inside the house occurred on the hot water side. Leak for water to the house occurred right at the connection to the county water. Unfortunately we no longer have the info for the replacement of the piping as we moved 4 years ago. You should try to google and find if the fund may have been replenished. It paid for total replacement of all pipes.

Watched a great YouTube video on replacing a water main with PEX. A lot less than a new AC or roof.
