We live in this area. It's very convenient and the schools are excellent. I highly recommend it (although I prefer Wyndham to Twin Hickory).

That's good to hear. We haven't come across Wyndham yet. Maybe on a future trip. We did visit Echo Lake which isn't too far away...i don't think. Beautiful park! Haven't seen one that gorgeous since we lived in FL.

Wyndham is right down the road. Same middle and high school. Same developer as Twin Hickory, but IMO laid out better. Homes are probably five to ten years older, but with that you get more mature landscaping. If you like Twin Hickory I would definitely recommend looking at Wyndham.

We are relocating to the Richmond area in the spring and I'm really excited! We need to be close to the Glen Allen area for my husband's job and I want to be north of there with easy access to the highways. I also want very good schools. Any suggestions on where I should begin looking for a home??

We live near Libbie & Grove, and commute to downtown is less than 10 minutes. I love being able to walk to restaurants, Starbucks, our local market, etc. Very safe city neighborhood and there are some rentals. As for Willow Lawn, it depends on what side, which area, etc. Definitely check out the neighborhood carefully before renting as it can be more hit or miss over there ...

Are there better areas to get away from crime and are there better areas for schools?
A lot of people on this forum who came from southern California seem to really like Short Pump / Glen Allen. Great schools, good shopping, great convenience to restaurants, starbucks, ice cream, etc, car culture, clean streets, working family middle class paradise.

I prefer the far Hull Street area in Midlothian. My brother lived ther ein the Woodlake subdivision for two years and it is real nice and they plenty of restaurants and shopping along that stretch. It is more affordable than Short Pump which is nice but a little overhyped.

I think the Chesterfield location to the south of Richmond is prretty nice too especiallly if you have some money.
