I don't think Richmond should have a forum but for the love of God please give NoVA a subforum.

I think more and more folks are looking into the Richmond metro area, and I think a subforum won't hurt anything, and can only help.

I personally think that NoVa NEEDS a sub-forum more than Richmond... but I think that Richmond is more suited for one.

Richmond has more of a defined area, where-as NoVa kinda fades as you hit Fredericksburg, Culpeper, and other localities, where it would be in question if a poster should post in the general forum, or the NoVa one... With NoVa, you're talking about a region, not a city.

I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't be in favor of a Richmond sub-forum. It would be much easier for people seeking out the region to find topics of interest to them.

A Richmond area sub-forum would be good, now we just have to define what geography a Richmond sub would cover.

Default I'm for dat

Opportunity to move to Richmond area came my way yesterday. This site is first stop in homework. Never been to Richmond.
Leaving VI for VA. Wife and I looking for quiet, friendly neighborhood. Price around 260K. Preferably sub-rural, space from neighbors, around an acre, nice small house, nice big garage or barn. Have had 2 antique cars and tractor stored in KS for last twenty years. Time to play, live quietly, and enjoy VA history and culture. I'll be working a few days a week on N. 8th street; for three more years.

Forgive my ignorance, but when you say VI do you mean the Virgin Islands? Just curious.

And you'll be working on N. 8th street in downtown Richmond? How far are you looking to commute? Varina in Henrico County may be an option as would parts of Powhatan and Hanover. Other places as well. Depends on what kind of commute you'd like for the next 3 years.

Default Yep, from VI to VA

Have lived and worked professionally several different islands for 20 years. It's time to leave sand and palm trees for the land of Home Depot and Lowes (tho I prefer dealing w/ small locally owned enterprises). My commute to work on this 27 mile long island is 7.5 minutes.
I can hack a 35 minute commute, but do not relish anything longer. But that is my honest response: I do recognize I will need to recondition to some misery, I just hope not too much.
Looks like I am Richmond bound, no matter what discomforts may lie ahead. I hope a little research, and input via your and other's responses will help me find a home for the 1908 Ford Model S and 1925 McCormick-Deereing tractor.
