It is taught by J Seargent Reynolds college at their downtown campus. Henrico County also offers it through the Adult-Ed program at Hermitage High School at night. My wife took it their and although a little more cost wise than J Sarge it was much more convienient than going downtown.

I thought that some nursing homes offered CNA training whereby the training is free, but the student works at the nursing home while being trained. Once the individual is certified, then they are offered a CNA position by the nursing home that trained them.

Is this a thing of the past?

I too would like to find on the job training at a nursing facility or hospital but so far no luck. This is so frustrating.

If you are taking the CNA program you will get a chance to work in different health care fields, such as hospital and nursing home. The good thing there once you get certified, the hospital or nursing home will recommend you to work for them as CNA.

New York State is the only state that always ans still are offering these kinds of oportunities to their citizens, everyone else is looking to get rich while their states unemployment rate is sky rocketing.

I can't say NY is the only ones but I am guessing most facilities have stopped the practise because a) Liability if something happens b) No guarantee that the person will stay at that facility. NY is gleening it's pound of flesh with every gallon of gas and taxes that could choke a horse...
