After Richmond and Martinsville, what are the best/largest speedways in the region. I just noticed how deep the roots of auto racing are around here. There is about a dozen tracks in SW VA - which is the best to watch old school racing.

IMHO, the best racing is at the short tracks, and Franklin County Speedway has it every week.

The Motor Mile Speedway, located near Radford, is another good option.

I grew up going to the short tracks around Roanoke, but haven't been in many years since I moved away. Wythville raceway & Natural Bridge Speedway are two dirt tracks near roanoke & have great racing. Franklin Co Speedway is a 3/8 mile paved High banked oval & was always my favorite. Motor Mile Speedway is also a 3/8 mile paved flat oval, but not as exciting racing as Franklin County. They all have web sites I think. You should give them all a try & post your reviews here.

I've heard that South Boston is a hotbed for speedways.

VIR near South Boston is great for sports car road racing. The small oval in Winston Salem is amazing
