Yeah, I know I shouldn't start this up again, but I've been thinkin' about this.

Having relocated to Roanoke a year ago, one of the things that makes me SO happy are the food shopping options. We lived in the far exurbs of Houston TX so having so many food shopping options very close is wonderful.

I understand the passion folks have for TJ's or WF....having said that...please realize that there are lots of folks that have very minimal access to these places.

I lived for several years in the suburbs of Houston, close to Kingwood - a very upscale suburb/planned community.

With 6+ million people in the metro area, Houston has 3 TJ's, with a 4th on the way. I think it has about 8 Whole Foods locations. For Kingwood folks, it is about a 40 minute trip to either. A big chunk of the Houston metro area would not reasonably be served at all by TJ's or WF.

As for me, I am SO happy to have the options of a well-stocked Kroger, two locations of the Co-op, Fresh Market, and Tinnell's, not to mention multiple farmer's markets, all within a 10-15 minute drive. And I live on the rural edge of the Roanoke area.

(Now I do miss my Costco, but that's another story haha!)

All in all, it is so awesome to have so many choices within such a short drive!

Having had plenty of access to Whole Foods before I moved here, I fail to understand the obsession. Now Wegmans, that's another story entirely.

TJ's is fine but I didn't shop there much when I lived near them. Of course, that might have had something to do with Wegmans...

Whole Foods is so over. There are plenty of alternatives now around the area.

So true! I believe the new Walmart neighborhood groceries will stock some Whole Foods products?

I've noticed for the first time that Whole Foods is producing television commercials. I think they are feeling the competition now that other grocers have increased their organic foods selection.

I'll admit, if there were a location in Roanoke, we'd be weekly shoppers.
