Very disappointing to see that the manufacturing sector is down, almost 9%. That used to be the lifeblood of the Rochester area.

^Yes, it was a way for people to get into the middle class without having a college degree, as many of us had parents or some of us in here worked in that industry. It also is a matter of automation and companies moving out of the country, let alone state, that has illustrated why manufacturing employment in the United States peaked in March of 1979.

Well, at least we are ahead of the nation in % of manufacturing jobs. Keep in mind, a lot of our manufacturing jobs are not of the "heavy industry" like other cities. Many are done in Clean Rooms, for instance. I noticed we are also ahead of the country in Info, Professional, Scientific and Technical, and Healthcare jobs
