I'd buy in Brighton. And apparently we'll have lots of competition if we try to! Really love the location and the real estate, but I don't love that the property taxes are some of the highest in the area. This is probably sacrilegious to say, but I think it's exciting that Whole Foods is coming (hopefully next year?) Wegmans needs some competition.

I agree. I think it's good news. Trader Joe's had no effect on Wegmans. I think WF will have to open a few more stores, to be a threat.

From the article, "41% of potential buyers are from outside of 14618 zip code". I've never once in my life heard a local person say they wanted to move to Brighton, so I assume that most people that want to live in Brighton already do. (I'm NOT knocking Brighton) So I'm thinking the majority of the lookers are from out of town

I hope you understand, that was not meant as a negative comment about Brighton. I live on the west side, so that may have something to do with it.

It will be interesting to watch the prices if they are getting scooped up rapidly.

Just goes to show that Rochester is a bargain for tech companies.

I loved living in Brighton when I had my apartment there. I can't believe my little Brighton is #1 on that list.

Travel & Leisure piece about this:

https://www.travelandleisure.com/tra...state-zip-code

"Brighton traces its origins to the late 18th century when an early settler built a house at the crossroads of two trails that connected Lake Ontario with the region's government seat at the time and, together with his wife, started taking in travelers seeking lodging. That building, known as the Stone-Tolan House, is Monroe County's oldest standing structure and is now a historic site visitors can tour. And while Brighton may be steeped in history, the quaint suburb attracts visitors with its modern dining scene and vibrant cultural happenings. The town is also a short drive away from Lake Ontario's best sandy beaches, including Ontario Beach Park, where visitors enjoy a myriad of water activities. With access to the cutting-edge medical and research facilities of Rochester's many universities, homebuyers in Brighton can also enjoy museums, playgrounds, and nature parks nearby."
