Nothing major crime wise to worry about around there; that's a pretty safe area of the city. Very close to downtown (some could consider it part of downtown) and the clubs/restaurants of the east end. Very popular with young professionals, artsy people, students, etc.
No, that map is not very accurate. Similar maps have been discussed on earlier threads on this forum; the downtown area should not be "Red" on that map. Most of downtown is fairly safe.

I agree also. It not accurate. The areas near the Irondequoit border are incorrect. The entire area north of Merchants st is labeled as unsafe, when in fact it is probably one of the safer areas in the city. Browncroft is part of the city, but is not included as a safe area of the map.
Actually the area north of Merchants is labled as fairly safe but what I dont understand is why on the "Safe Neighborhoods line near Park Ave" thread both Cheese and Iminformed said that they thought that very map was accurate!
No, we both said it was "fairly" accurate or "more accurate"...terms describing its accuracy relative to the first map posted in that thread. Pointing out there there are flaws in that map as well, just not as many as in the previous one posted. Bottom line is that the area the OP is looking at is a solid area where they wouldn't have to worry about their safety.
Thanks guys, you've helped settle my mind some. I've been having a lot of anxiety about this move and whether I can find a safe place I can afford.
