In our town newspaper today -- the building inspector was fired because he was not able to look the other way and favor certain individuals over others, the way it has always been done.

They actually came right out and said it!

Too bad, they should have just slipped him a bribe as it's done in bigger cities

^^^ Even in the metropolis of Stuart? Way cool.
Oh, no no...this was from my youth in rural south Georgia. I grew up on a dirt road where a busy day would include three cars passing in a day's time. But my mom never worried about my playing in the street, that's for sure.

You are in a small town when the big news is "The family next door went grocery shopping in the city."

When you know there is a stranger in town because you hear a car, you never heard before (Everybody in a small town recognizes the sound of everybody's car)

hahahaha. We have summer cottages here and they're supposed to be up to code--like having a back door in case of fire, stuff like that. We just can't have someone who might actually enforce these rules. And we need a guy who will let them build rentals out on the marsh too. Can't worry about wetlands or flood zones, you know.

LOL y'all.

Yep. we all know the out of townie cars. You can tell by the way they drive, slower than us locals, slowing down for turns that aren't that difficult.

There's a two way stop in the center of town. You have to be really careful sometimes, the tourists stop at the sign and assume it's a four way stop. I've nearly been t boned at least a half dozen times.

We don't get any Tourists. Just UPS, FEDEX, Relatives and people that get lost trying to find Mount Rushmore and we have to tell them they are one state off, they want South Dakota. You can't get to South Dakota from here, have to go to another city,.

No biggie unless they ask Ole Bill, he usually gives them directions to Winnipeg Canada.

No tourists in lovely Marion? Shame.

This area has been a popular destination for decades, summer lodges and camps and snowmobile and hunting camps handed down in some families for decades.

Of couse, then you have the dummies like us who thought it would be cool to live here.....
