Our town entails 120 Full Timers, mostly retired folks.
Most of the jobs here are seasonal. 90% of those who reside here f/t derived their assets/income from somewhere else.
plowing the snowy roads for the county or caltranzs..=major overtime during winter,
14 hr days, often graveyards
Of those men, most
also work weekends during the peak summer month
A few younger men will work full time during the peak summer months.
90% of these are related to lodging, camping or eating so are min wage or close enough.
By Oct 31st, even the straggler visitors/tourists/campers/lodgers are gone so businesses reduce hrs/days of operation from Nov 1st thru May 31st. Open 1/2 the wk, often for 1/2 days)
Many women of working age are f/t w/ the County.
Older women, non-retired, may work 2-3 hrs a day, 5 days a wk, during Summer peak months (June-Sept)
Most earn $18 hr+ tips to clean rooms (housekeepers). A universal wage all the businesses stick to.
I guess that averages to add $330 a mo, or so to their Social Security
That's what my wife plans to do someday, when we "retire"
Those raised here are often working well into retirement unless they work f/t for the County. Often their only significant nest egg is their home
