Hello
I'm having trouble finding an apartment that would overlook my low credit score. I make enough income with no evictions in my record but I have been turned down twice so far. I'm looking to either rent a descent size studio or a 1bd to get me through the school year (that means willing to sign a 6mo lease). I don't want to live in a bad area either, so which apartments in the sacramento area are not managed by large companies or maybe are privately owned? Or anything that will accept my application. Looking for something under $600/mo. Thanks!

I would look on Craigslist personally. I have crappy credit also but got into my home by dealing with an owner, not a rental company. Usually, they are more lenient and can make exceptions. (think someone renting out a condo or townhome) Also, low income apartments have looser guidelines when it comes to credit. Good Luck on your search.

I agree. Stay away from management companies. Doesn't matter if you make 100k per year, they'll likely turn you down if your credit score is below 600. Who needs them anyway.
Private owners are the way to go. There are tons of privately owned rentals in Sac. Some of them still put weight on your credit score, but generally, if your income is solid and have a good rental history they should be able to work with you.

something to think about: this guy posted a year ago, I would bet he has found something by now; what do you think?
