Well, my family is on the move again. My wife has an interview in Rocklin. I use to live in El Dorado Hills 13 years ago. I am moving back to the area and need advice on good schools in Rocklin or Folsom. I know about Greatschools.net, but I want someone who actually has kids in an area school. Both of my kids are in Speech Therapy, so a good school is a necessity. We live in Las Vegas and the schools are horrible.

Valley View in Rocklin is fantastic and goes to 8th grade if you wish. I am moving back to the area as well specifically for this school. I have a 4 year old who will enroll next year. Our best family friends sent their kids to Breen in Rocklin and loved it. They have 3 boys who all went to Rocklin High and are pretty successful young men at this point.

I don't have personal experience with the Folsom schools but my sister has twin girls going to a public elementary in Folsom and they have both gotten a lot out of it.

Good luck to your wife with the new job!

You can't go wrong with most of the Rocklin Unified School District. We, too, moved from Las Vegas (just last summer) and arrived in Rocklin 2 nights before school started. Our kids (2nd & 4th graders) are thrilled with Sunset Ranch Elementary...and so are we. It doesnt hurt that we bought a home about 600 yards from the school, and the school serves just Whitney Ranch...and it's a brand new school that got some of the best teachers from surrounding schools, not to mention the principal. Whitney High is also located within Whitney Ranch, so we know we'll have a top notch high school for our kids. Right now, middle school will be a 10-15 minute drive (Granite Oaks), but there's some possibility of a middle school being built in Whitney Ranch as well - but probably not soon enough for our current 4th grader.

Well, my son is going to Sunset Ranch and my 3 year old goes to Parker Whitney for his speech Therapy. We are renting, but if I could do it over, I would have chose the Parker Whitney area. My wife picked this area, but I do not like all cookie cutter houses in Whitney Ranch.
