I also love Papa Gianni's in CP. Very nice food, very reasonable prices, great service. Too bad it's in a shopping center and not somewhere with a nice patio and a view. I just don't understand why restaurants in this area don't take advantage of all the natural beauty and great weather out here.

If you don't mind a fancy type place, and Northern style food, here's a review of Biba, a local institution for decades:

Dining review: At Biba, food and service still great, decor needs updating - Dining - sacbee.com

Compared with Waterboy, McCormick & Schmick's, Grange, The Kitchen, or Morton's it's not at all expensive. Compared to Apple Bee's, sure. Biba is better than anything I've been to in North Beach. It's up there with Delfina and Quince which are also better than anything I've had in North Beach.

For more reasonably price fare, I'd say Bella in Inner Richmond is my favorite in SF. It's not the type of place I'd drive all the way to SF for, however.
