Police said during a 120-day period from Sept. 1, 2011 through Jan. 4, 2012, Rocklin experienced 61 residential burglaries...a 25 percent jump in home break-ins over the same period last year.

Additionally, the Placer County Sheriff's department reported 31 similar home break-ins during a similar stretch of time in the Granite Bay area.

Wow, when I lived there in the early 80's it was nothing but a gorgeous semi-rural area. Granite Bay was only a road to get out to the road towing a boat. Thats a shame. My one son lives in Granite Bay to this day, it grew up completely around him. Its quite a shock every time I go visit.

So Rocklin isnt the conservative paradise it's touted to be? Shocking.

Isn't Rocklin, etc more of a commuter town anyways? Is there that much industry out there to support those who live there? It looks to me like everyone is on the road driving into downtown Sac every day.
Talk about easy pickins.....

Rocklin is not much of a commuter town. Sure you have some people that work out of Rocklin, but there are many stay at home mom's and retired folk. On top of that you have a ton of small business people that work close to or out of their homes.
Aquaboy, its not really fair to compare an entire city to your single street.

I assume that most of those "stay at home moms" are married to "commute to work dads." Western Placer County has an enormous jobs/housing imbalance, which is generally just the way they like it.

Good information Rocketir--Carmichael is also a place with a dreadful jobs/work imbalance, just a residential suburb with no actual economic base, which is part of why it's still an unincorporated part of Sacramento County instead of an incorporated city. A pleasant suburb, I'll admit, but Rocklin, like Roseville, is essentially economically dependent on Sacramento--there are some job centers in Placer County, but their primary industry is creating homes for the thousands of commuters.
