We have been looking around online from apartments and we have seen some we like but we are wondering if anybody can give us some ideas on where we would be accepted and safe for a lesbian couple. Some apartment complexes ideas would help. Please help us out. She is my first lesbian girlfriend I am new to this so I want us to be safe as possible. We are looking at midtown. I heard its welcoming but please give us some help.

Sacramento rents are very high.( I live here) I live in an area called Curtis park, It is very, very, quiet and you hardly ever hear sirens, most of the rents are reasonable, I pay $575 a month for a 1 bdrm apt. Very clean , nice neighbors and no trashy people around.Good luck

It really depends on what you are looking for. In addition, safe is relative. Some may consider safe what I do not.

Perhaps you can give us an idea what part of town you are looking at, if you are here for school or work, and your budget.

You mention "accepted and safe"--what do you mean?

Sacramento is more progressive than most cities in the US but during the GW administration I saw a lot of my friends were concerned about the hate and divisiveness was spreading at the time. These days though, thankfully have allowed some healing and there seems less of that. As for peaceful living, I'm not sure where the police helicopters don't go, as Sacramento seems to have that on a regular basis and there's a lot of gang activity in just about every neighborhood.

Sacramento has a very large LGBT community, located mostly around the central city (Downtown/Midtown) so if you're looking there you should be just fine.

I don't know why people frequently point to midtown as the only "safe" place for the LGBT community. I find LGBT's throughout the Sacto region, including 'hoods like East Sac, Elmhurst, River Park, Fair Oaks, Folsom and yes, even Roseville.

I wouldn't say it's the only safe place, but since they said they were already considering the central city, it made sense to validate their choice.
