I've noticed a huge disparity between the quality (in terms of taste and softness) of tap water between different cities I've lived in. It's possibly the only great thing about south Louisiana. The water here is amazing. It comes from large natural aquifers deep below the ground. I like it better than bottled water and it is great for lathering/showering.

I recall the water being not so great in Los Angeles. The water back in Seattle is decent but hard. Water in Texas was the worst. Had a funny taste to it. Water in NYC is pretty good, too.

It depends where you live in Sacto. And if you like the taste of chlorine.

I'm used to filtered, RO, or Big Berkey water. When I first moved here, I lived in East Sac. The tap water tasted like dirt. It's an older neighborhood, so perhaps the pipes were old & leaky. IDK. My ex-roomie insisted on buying water at WF, the co-op, or where ever you could get the 5 gallon jugs filled. Water delivery was too expensive. Thank goodness when I moved out to Folsom, I was able to switch back to the BB. I'm not to thrilled about the water up here in Folsom or EDH hills. I pretty much carry filtered water with me everywhere. Although, I would certainly take the water in Sacramento over the water in Hanford any day.

YMMV

I never drank from the tap here in Elk Grove. I always had a filter on my fridge and drank from that OR bought bottle water.

The water in Carmichael is so hard that if you fill a glass and let it sit, you'll see a red ring in the glass. And the water tastes like metal.

I love having drinking water from my own well. Oh sorry, off topic.

^^Nice. As I said before, our tap water is great for me. I came from Texas where the water doesn't taste so great, and my parents live in the Houston area where the water tastes like there is baby oil in it.

Tap water is fine...we get our supply from an aquifier in the Vineyard area although SF tap water beats out most of the cities I've visited in and outside of California. It's derived from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.

I don't drink water, just the other three "W" liquids, Whiskey, Wine, and Wiezen.

Not as bad as some, not as good as some. The tap water in south orange county was disgusting, couldn't drink it even filtered through the fridge and hated using it to brush my teeth.

Nothing I've had has ever been as good as East Bay MUD water, which was great straight from the tap.

I prefer my Sacramento water run through a filter, but if thirsty I'd drink it straight, and I don't bother filtering it when I heat it for tea.
