What are the quieter areas to live in Chico? (Nice: rentals, condos)

I think any neighborhood near Bidwell Park would fit the bill.

Can you be more specific about the size of the home you need? Are you looking for a two bedroom or three bedroom? You might want to look in the vicinity of Filbert Avenue, it's within walking distance to the park but it's far enough away that you might be able to find a rental in your budget.

Thanks bradlywhite and AndrewCS. We are looking for a 2 bedroom or a 1 bedroom with office space or area that could be used for painting. Nice to hear it might be quiet near the park.

If you're okay with condo living, there's an excellent complex of condos right next to the One Mile Rec Area in Bidwell Park. There's actually a back gate that residents can use to walk right out to the park, it doesn't get much closer than that. I was just checking out a 2bd there on Craigslist today for $995. I had a couple of friends who shared a place there and it's really great, it's peaceful, woodsy, and excellent location.

If those don't fit the bill, you can check out some management companies like Hignell, Sheraton or North Valley Property Management for starters. The first two companies are probably the best, Hignell is all local, and they own many of the properties they lease. They're also friendly, prompt and clean. Beyond those three listed, I would advise staying clear of Robb Fairchild, he's a fairly prominent property manager in town who has a questionable reputation.
