Granite Bay is best suburb in Sac. I would say Loomis or East Roseville second. I don't like West Roseville as much.

Granite Bay also requires 2+ million for a home. Most cannot afford that.

Obviously no true...14 out of 23 Granite Bay SFHs on the market right now are under 2M. 13 of them are under 1.5M. 7 are under 1M. Yes, it is expensive but not super expensive by (crazy) California standards.

I ended up buying a nice home in Carmichael close to Garden of the Gods border and so far it has been quiet and safe. I don't have kids or plan any and home nearby sold for my than what I paid. I love the convenience to 50/80 freeways, close to river and trails and shopping. Folsom and Roseville would be ideal if I had 3 kids and an expensive wife but I would have to pay at least 100k more for a similar home if not more. Plus the commute times to downtown would be way worse if I ever had to return to office in the future.

If traffic is really that bad, would the light rail system from Folsom not be a reliable alternative?

Take the light rail a time or two before making that decision. The fellow passengers might not be to your liking or comfort level.

Yeah I much prefer to drive than public transit. I used to ride the light rail system years ago and it was not great in terms of the rider environment even 20 years ago. Plus slow as heck. Took me hour to get anyplace that would be a 15 minute commute.

People that post such nonsense shouldn't post. The median price in GB is probably closer to $1m than $2m. Not a lot of homes above $2m.

There is a certain amount of hyperbole that seems to come with the Sacramento forum. I think its useful to view it as part of this forum's charm.

Somewhat doubt that hyperbole adds anything to the forum's charm

This forum is at its best when it provides newcomers with honest unbiased opinions ideally supported by data.
Hyperbole/ roleplaying subtracts from it. My favorite was something to the effect "I am waiting till the Apple stock returns to its twice historical maximum level to buy a house".
