Sorry to see this store close, we have been there shopping every Christmas they've had the Theater of Lights show. It has been kind of a tradition for us the past decade, except for the COVID cancellation.

The closure is due to extensive thefts, a major problem in Sacramento. With the struggling of Old Town now, I'd be surprised if they still even have the Theater of Lights show in that area.

“When there is a lack of deterrent, they are just emboldened to do it more and more and that results to businesses shuttering, and consumer prices increasing,” said Snyder.

According to the California Retail Association, Sacramento ranks among the top 10 cities in the country for organized retail crime. Snyder plans to close his stores by the end of the month and move his operations to Texas.

WOOHOO WE MADE A TOP TEN LIST

Interesting, here are the cities in order:
1. Los Angeles
2. Chicago
3. Miami
4. New York
5. San Francisco
6. Baltimore
7. Atlanta
8. Washington D.C.
9. Philadelphia
10. Sacramento

And some people here think Sacramento doesn't have what it takes to compete with world-class cities like Washington DC!

I know more than one city on that list has a District Attorney who ran on a platform that they were going to prosecute as few people as possible--and people voted them in.

We voted in politicians here who promptly passed laws to make a lot of crimes barely misdemeanors and not worth pursuing.

At what point will we realize that elections have consequences?

To go to jail right now in California for shoplifting , you need to get convicted 3 times for stealing more than $950.

So the problem isn't just the DA's, its the legislature and the Governor's Office. Given the BLM protests and the current composition of the legislature, does anyone think this is going to change?

Now consider the alternatives, does anyone think any of the Republican candidates for Governor have a chance against Newsom? Newsom is an underwhelming governor, but none of the Republican challengers seem credible.
