This is a new report for our Sacramento region, and a great read for anyone interested in what some knowledgeable folks are projecting for our local economy. A very comprehensive and impressive document here, very interesting to review.

They discuss the overall economy, and then break down their analysis to discuss jobs, housing, retail, office space/vacancy/absorption, and industrial capacity/usage. It goes well beyond this, but this gives you an idea about how the report is structured.

It is pretty easy to navigate, so you can get to the parts of greatest interest to each of you:

One of the many things I found interesting in the report was the perspective that they expect the Sacramento market to go down a bit less than average for the coming year, and bottoming out prior to the rest of the country (they worded it a bit differently, but that is the gist of their comments).

I recall seeing a report a week or so ago projecting metro Sacramento to be in the top 5 metros in terms of 2009 decline, so I find the difference in perspective interesting. I personally think that we are close to bottom, but it is always interesting to see multiple thoughtful perspectives.

I remember seeing that report last week saying Sacramento real estate will drop another 20% plus in 2009. I really can't imagine a drop that significant but who knows.
