Looking to move to aprartment in area near sac state, while earning masters degree. What is the safest, (for 2 sisters in thier early 20's) most money wise place to live in but still a fairly fun area for young people? Thanks!

You might want to check out the midtown area. Lots and lots of apartments. They are cheap for a reason though, they usually do not have central heat and air (usually wall heaters and window air conditioners). Overall though, it's a fun place for younger folks because there are a ton of restaurants and always nightlife in the heart of midtown. It's fairly easy commute onto the freeway to get to Sac State, too.

"safe" and "cheap" don't generally go in the same sentance. lol. sorry.

But to really answer your question- what is the amount you can afford? Your "cheap" may be someone else's "expensive" or vice versa.

Check out crime stats as well. There will generally be more crime towards the schools- because there's a lot of younger kids around. There are some really horrible areas around there too; i would first recommend taking a look on craigslist in your price range.

Google the addresses and look at them on google maps (which shows you the surronding area via satellite) then drive by them too.

You can't count strictly on the google maps views- sometimes they look decent and you drive by and you're in the ghetto!

I would focus on East Sac, Campus Commons and College Greens. All of those neighborhoods have plenty of students and are fairly close to campus where you could either walk or ride a bike to class.

I've done tons of research when i was interested in finding a cheap apartment in a good area. The one that i would recommend is called la riviera commons (i think) it's on la riviera dr. right across from big lots, there's actually 2 apartments they 're both cheap. I was told the rent was something around 720 for 2bedrooms which is a very good deal and the area is pretty safe (but you don't want to go any further down). If you are interested i can pm you the exact address location and name
