If you are working at Hill AFB, you don't want to live in Logan...it's a long commute, and the canyon can be pretty hairy in the winter. There are tons of nice towns all around Ogden like Layton, Syracuse, North Ogden, Perry, Kaysville, etc...that are closer to work, have great schools, and a lot more diversity (religious) than you would find in Logan.

Don't get me wrong...Logan is a fantastic town, but if you have to commute to Hill AFB daily, I'd stick with Weber/Davis county.

Second that. We live in Ogden, and my boyfriend has to commute to Logan 5-6 days per week. He is not fond of the drive, and he's been really lucky this winter with the lack of snow that there have only been a couple of days that going through the canyon is scary. If you are looking for a suburb that's a bit more rural, I would look into West Haven

It's funny when someone responds to a thread where the last post was 3 years ago.

Actually, Cache Valley is fairly large if you're talking about area. The two counties that comprise it, Cache and Franklin, equate to 1800 sq. miles. Salt Lake valley, for comparison, has 800 sq. miles.

Problem with comparing ghettos to each other is that you lose sight of what can really happen in a place that has "laughable" hoods. Of course someone can always find another place that is more dangerous than another.

Ultimately, Ogden and Salt Lake are places much safer than others across the nation, but also locations that can have you messed up if you mess around; they're the types of places that will take you by surprise because of the ideal going in.

As a native of Tanzania (but an American citizen), I can tell you that the U.S. has poverty that shouldn't be overlooked, but if only you knew how so many really live back home...
