Hello all. I am flying into SLC 4 hours before the rest of my party and was hoping you could lead me to a good area to grab luch and a beer while waiting for them to land and pick me up (then leaving for the Mtns). I would love to get out of the airport and see a little of your city givin the opportunity. Thanks..

I would go downtown beginning in the area around Energy Solutions Arena and head East toward Temple Square. Temple Square is the biggest tourist attraction downtown. Temple Square has the new Nauvoo Café that is cheap and good. As for other eateries, if you walk or take light rail south down Main Street, there are quite a few places. . I’ve eaten at Lamb’s Grill, which is a famous old restaurant. There are a lot of chain restaurants. And then several social clubs and bars that I don’t have info on (Can’t help you much with the beer portion).

Default good eats

You can also try the Red Rock Brewery as well.
I have eaten there before and the food and beer were both good

Good luck!

Yeah, Red Rock and Squatters would be my choices.

You could also consider the Skybox at Gateway.

I was also going to recommend Red Rock. Don't know about the beer, but the food is very good!

So Temple Square area is the place to go? Also, it is really easy to get downtown from the Airport via Taxi correct? (via google earth it looks like the airport is right outside of downtown).

Thanks everyone.

According to Google maps, it's about 7 miles or 12 minutes from the airport. I wouldn't say it's close. Nor would I suggest going to Temple Square if you're looking for alcohol.

Both Squatters & Red Rock are 7.4 miles, 12 minutes from the airport

Red Rock
254 South 200 West, Salt Lake City

Squatters
147 West Broadway, Salt Lake City

I highly reccomend Port 'O Call. It's on 400 South and I think 200 West. Great selection of beer and good pub grub. The help there is also very easy on the eyes.

One more that wasn't mentioned - Acme Burger. Right across from Red Rock - really incredible food!!! And they have beer. It was recommended to me & it exceeded my expectations. WELCOME TO ACME BURGER COMPANY - "Anyting But Common"
