Hello.
My wife, son, little dog and I are moving from the San Francisco area to SLC. We are looking to rent for for a 6 months to 1 yr. - need to be near a great elementary school and preferably rent a 2bdrm, 2ba, and at least 1 car garage. I will work downtown. Saving some money so we don't want a larger house - until we get the feel of the different areas. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

What would your budget be? How long of a commute are you looking for? Do you want a more surburban feel or would you rather be closer to downtown in a more walkable neighborhood?

If you're working downtown, I would look in Mill Creek, Holladay, or the east side of SLC proper. Avoid anything that requires a commute on I-15 and also the west side of the SL Valley. I see For Rent signs sprinkled about, so there are options. The area around the University of Utah always has openings. Finding a landlord that will allow pets is always another tricky thing that may weed out several potential dwellings.
