I've done some looming around these forums about SLC and am looking at this as a potential place to move from upstate ny. How are the hours at the jobs? I have conceptions about not too much night shift or weekend shift available because this place seems very family oriented. And is the standard of living for an Lpn? Is this a good place for someone looking to pay off a small amount of debt and establish themselves financial and personal wise?

There are several nursing schools in the area. I used to work at one of the IHC hospitals (largest group in state) and they had RNs and CNAs. I don't remember any LVNs. Maybe nursing homes, at least in Texas where I am now, that's the market for LVNs.

Yea i dont plan on going to Texas. Already lived in the south for 21 years and want something different. I dont know much about Texas but i would be used to the environment. How is the market for Lvns there.

So pretty much is it only rn and cna in the Ltcs?

Don't know about UT but in TX long-term care facilities hire LVNs. In UT, I meant hospitals have RNs and CNAs.

Well that seems to be all places where ltc use Lpn or Lvns. So how are the pay and taxes and expenses for Lvns in Texas? Theres also a school in fort worth or near there so maybe thats where ill start. And how restricted are Lvns in Texas? I heard a lot of places down south Lpns can do more and arent just confined to Ltcs.

My dd is going to school now to become an LPN. From what we have been able to see, there is plenty of work for LPN’s. Hospitals as well as nursing facilities have job openings.
