My google skills have failed me.

Can someone please recommend a good apartment locating service / apartment finders?

I wish to rent for 6 months (or longer) while getting to know neighborhoods and the real estate market. Target areas are (I think) Millcreek, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, maybe older/northern parts of Sandy. Retired, outdoorsy — interested in quiet established neighborhoods with easy mountain access.

I will be traveling to SLC for a week in mid-late August to try to secure an apartment for mid-ish September.

Thank you.

I'd start with ksl.com. It's the go-to site around here.

Thank you.

I am looking for a locating service — a bit like a realtor who will locate a short list of rentals based on my specs, desired locations, etc — thus making the process much more efficient in a completely unknown city.

For example “Smart City Apartment Locators” have branches in about a dozen cities across the country, but not SLC. Perhaps this is a service that isn’t offered in the SLC area.

Uhmmm...
This entity is only located in Dallas, according to their website!

Have you contacted them and find out if they may serve SLC also?

No, they show locations in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Ft Worth, San Antonio, Denver, Atlanta ....

There are lots of apartment locating services in Austin, some locally owned, some as part of a multi-City company. Same is true in Raleigh. I guess it is a business that hasn’t hit SLC yet.

You can use Google maps and search "apartments" to find places in your desired locations. Perhaps by reading the reviews, that will help you narrow down a list of places to pursue that meet your specs.

Rentler.com and Zillow are additional resources.

Hi, GreyDawg. Not sure if they're apartment finders, per se, but I found several references to callithome.com on various sites where people said they were successful using this site.

Maybe it'll help. Either way when you click Rent and look at the map there are truckloads of rentals that come up.

If this isn't helpful I'd google for rental property management companies. I think that's where a realtor will line things up and help you out.

Good luck!

Thanks, all.

It is odd that such a service has not sprung up Given the presence of the “silicon slopes,” as it is common in most of the other high tech areas.

Thanks again.
