I like Ruby River the best, followed by Lone Star. For fun, you could go to Wagonmaster.

Last I looked, Wagonmaster was no longer. My inlaws loved that place and every time they would come out to visit, we would go there. The last time they came out, it had been closed down.

Don't overlook Japanese restaurants for steaks. Japanese love beef. The best steak I've had in Salt Lake was at the Mikado on 100 S West Temple. It was an aged beef tenderloin cut served with a teriyaki glaze sauce. I don't eat steaks out often, so I can't say I've sampled a huge number of places, but this was an exceptionally prepared beef dish.

Thanks for letting me know. It's obviously been a while since I was there. It's kind of more for visitors so they get the experience there. Bummer.

I know. I was bummed, too. It was quite the experience. Have you tried Salt City Jail? That is pretty good with a neat atmosphere. I am pretty sure that one is still around.

Try the Mikado's beef specials and then we can talk about shrimp . . . (once I was a skeptic too!)

I've eaten there a few times. I don't know if it's still open. But since it's downtown, I'd rarely go there. I tend to hang out south of 33rd. Anything north of 33rd I consider downtown.

I don't know if it is still open either. Seems like all the good steakhouses are closing up. There is (was??) Texas Roadhouse right in Taylorsville. It has been a while since I lived in that area. I am thinking 4700 S or 5400 S? About 1800 W? It is right off Redwood Rd. That was pretty good, too. It was always so busy every time we would go. I don't think it is as good as Lonestar, but not too bad.
