My family and I are moving to SLC. Can you nice folks tell me the type of commute and distances that I will be facing. My job is located around the Airport area, and the places we`re looking to live are Hooper, Roy area, West Haven,Layton area, and the Tooele area. Thank you

Can only answer in general terms unless you have specific addresses and times, but would think that 30 minutes would be tops for anything in those areas.

Strongly consider Tooele. Probably 20 minutes. The traffic coming in from the west is much better than than the traffic coming in from the north. There are also some neighborhoods off of SR-201 in Western SL county that would give you a 10 minute commute.

I agree, Tooele would be a great commute for the airport area. It used to be Cowtown USA, but it's really growing now. Definitely look into it.

Everything is within 30 minutes here. I say that as a joke but it is almost true. Google says about 18 minutes for you.

Your commute time will be almost solely dependent on stop lights... i.e. how far from the highway you are. Once on the highways you can generally rely on doing 70 mph.

Only things to worry about IMO... if you get south of the I-15/I-215 interchange traffic tends to build in the evenings southbound. And for whatever reason there seem to be a LOT more accidents on I-80 E/W than on either I-15 or 215.

If you work and live near the highways your commute should be very easy based on downtown to W. Jordan (I-215 to Redwood Rd probably).

Tooele would definitely be the faster commute, even though it's further away. Davis country traffic sucks, but SR-36 and I-80 are almost always clear sailing.

I don't know about the Davis County traffic sucking. Since 2008, they have built Legacy highway, FrontRunner and just completed upgrading I-15 in Davis. I have seen dramatic improvement in that road for commuting. Almost night and day.
