How are those stores run there? Do you guys have "nice" ones and not so nice ones? Are there limits and special days/hours of close/open? I did a search on google but I don't like clicking the links just in case.

I am looking for one that has moderate to high end and want to avoid trashy ones.

Well, they are all run the same as far as pricing goes. Most are 11-7 with a few being 10 to 10 but all are closed on Sundays. I know that you know the stores are state run and seem to have the same selections but the larger newer stores have a larger selection. I think that all Federal holidays and Pioneer Day in the summer are the closing days. The only stores that I think are kind of icky are in some of the not so nice parts of town. I hate the one in Sugarhouse-mainly due to the access/parking thing. The one on N Temple is a little sketchy too-they have visible security in the store.
Nice huge new one in Park City has a great selection for the wine lovers too..

The only places to get liquor are at State liquor stores. Some are bigger than others but they are pretty much the same otherwise.

They close at 7:00 PM and are closed on Sunday and Holidays.

Damn I miss being able to buy the stuff whenever at the grocery store.

Yeh I miss that about cali too. In PA you can't buy it at the store either. They just allowed beer in giant eagle here I guess? I don't really drink beer though. I like to have a decent wine now and again. I really wanted to pick up some champagne for my first night there so that 7pm rule is good to know.
Thanks guys!

I think here in PA the close at 9? I am not sure..I usually buy around the 5pm time of day for daylight safety reasons.

The Sugar House one is in a good location but their parking is skimpy. The store itelf and the customers are fine.

One problem is that the State has an approved list of makers who will label for UT and there is no deviation unless you want to order a large quantity. Pople do complain about that. The prices and the selection are the same across the state, except the larger stores can carry more variety of the approved lines.

When the State decided to move the alcopops to the liquor stores earleir this year -or was it last year?- some wouldn't fix their label and just quit serving UT. Since I don't drink that stuff, I only know what I heard on the news.

I think any state that has state-run stores has the same policies about selection, just more selections!

I am surprised that there is one even in Bountiful!! That is one of the very few things that I miss about living in Park City. We had 3 liquor stores and 2 of were the 10 til 10 type!!
