With all in the news about school districts; RIF, last hired firsts fired, schools closing... would anyone be apprehensive about applying with schools? If so is there any one or two you would focus on or any you would definately not focus on and why?

I'm no longer interested in applying, but I'm not a teacher. Just be forewarned, though.....the minute you hit "send" on your NISD application, an employment verification form goes out to your current employer so they then know you are looking. (There is probably an opt-out button that I missed) I got called out about that at my present job and it made for an uncomfortable afternoon. They got over it, though.

In this job market I would focus on all the districts - including the smaller ones outside SA and not turn my nose up at any of them. Ultimately kids are kids...administrators are administrators...parents are parents and the perceived good of working in a more middle class area may be offset by a lousy climate at school (for example). Don't do what I've heard other job seekers do and limit yourself to the districts that are perceived as "good" and close yourself off the the others.

Thanks all, Saphire my admins know I am looking. I dont even tell them anymore because I have put in so many apps without any call backs. I never thought I was that bad.

Thank you both for the advice.

Cast a WIDE net...having said that, your best bet (really) is a referral from a current employee. Really.
